Where there’s oil, there’s money, and there are certainly enormous quantities of black gold throughout much of the Middle East. But thus far, at least, it hasn’t translated into a robust private equity scene.
The most popular PE destinations in the Middle East are Israel and Turkey, each accounting for more than 30% of all PE investor activity since 2005. In terms of sectors, energy makes up a much smaller share of PE investor activity than one might think, as two energy deals have been completed since 2015.
