Planet Labs: The satellite imagery company recently launched 73 of its products into orbit to provide frequently updated images of any place on Earth. The images can be used for crop monitoring, physical asset management and much more. Planet Labs raised $70 million in Series C equity led by Data Collective.
Mapillary: Mapping the Earth from ground level, Mapillary has designed a way for street-level world views to be crowdsourced by allowing anyone to contribute images through a mobile app or web upload. The company received a $1.5 million seed investment led by Sequoia Capital.
PureLiFi: PureLiFi has developed a fully wireless LiFi networking system that uses the visible light spectrum to provide high-speed wireless access with greater security, safety and data densities that WiFi. LSIP led a £1.5 million equity round.
Jibo: Jibo's family robot comes with features like natural language processing (so owners can talk to it from anywhere in the room); a hi-res camera to recognize and track faces, capture photos and enable video calling; and an AI algorithm to learn its owner's preferences and adapt. Jibo landed $25.3 million in Series A funding.
Ringly: The Andreessen Horowitz-backed company has created smart jewelry that helps users stay connected to their phones by notifying them through lights and vibrations that only they can notice. Ringly raised $5.1 million last week.
