The median size of global seed financings has been on a noticeable rise since early 2014, nearly doubling from $800,000 in 1Q that year to $1.5 million in 2Q 2015, according to PitchBook data. While the overall deal flow of seed rounds has fallen as of late (40% drop over the past three quarters), large seed deals have picked up significantly. 174 VC investors have participated in at least one $5 million+ seed financing over the past three years, with 12 such deals going down in 2Q 2015 alone (the high-water mark for any quarter in the timeframe). Of these investors, 49 manage between $100 million and $1 billion of assets, while another 19 manage at least $2 billion.
