Venture capital investment in the global edtech industry has grown each year since 2009, according to data from the PitchBook Platform. While deal flow has steadily increased during the timeframe, 2014 hit a high-water mark for capital invested in the space at $1.33 billion—a number that has already been matched in 2015. Since the beginning of 2013, 531 VC investors have injected $3.5 billion of funding into edtech companies through 531 deals. 147 of the firms have made at least one investment in the past six months; 71 manage assets of $1 billion or more.
