Since the start of 2010, 1,803 VC investors have completed at least one deal in the global healthcare sector, helping fund nearly 3,500 companies, according to the PitchBook Platform. Venture capital invested in the industry each year rose from $8.6 billion in 2010 to $13.1 billion in 2014. During the timeframe, deal flow split almost evenly into the biotech (40%) and healthcare devices & supplies (39%) subsectors, with health tech systems (12%) and healthcare services (9%) following next. 50 of the firms manage $3 billion or more in assets, while 110 manage between $500 million and $1 billion.
