U.S. and European VC investment activity in China has picked up quite significantly in 2014, with capital invested in the country so far this year ($1.0 billion) already surpassing last year's total ($817 million) and closing in on total capital invested in 2012. Since the beginning of 2009, 105 U.S.- and Europe-based VC firms have invested in China, according to the PitchBook Platform. The $8.0 billion invested by these firms over that time period has been funneled primarily into China's B2C industry, which has accounted for over 50% of the total capital invested. The investors, of which 40 manage between $1 billion and $5 billion of assets, have completed a total of 415 deals in the country since 2009. Another 15 of the investors manage between $50 million and $500 million. To see the full list, contact us here.
