Two PE firms closed funds with a Middle Eastern focus recently: Abu Dhabi's Gulf Capital raised $750 million and Kuwait's NBK Capital closed on $310 million (read more below in our Fundraising News section). Gulf Capital claimed that nearly 60% of investors in its latest vehicle came from the U.S., Europe and Asia, indicating LP interest in the MENA region—Middle East and North Africa—could be on the rise. They aren't alone; more than 200 PE investors have invested in MENA companies since the start of 2005, 53 of which have made deals within the past 12 months.
