Since the start of 2013, more than 1,600 VC investors have completed at least one deal at the Series A stage, according to the PitchBook Platform, with the combined value of the roughly 2,800 financings amounting to $18.3 billion. Venture capital invested at the Series A stage rose considerably from 2013 to 2014, increasing by 25% from $7.6 billion to $9.5 billion (the highest amount of Series A capital invested during a single year in at least a decade). Some notable Series A investments during 2014's banner year include Adaptimmune ($104M) and Oscar Health Insurance ($80M). Of all the investors, 439 manage between $100 million and $1 billion of assets, while another 126 manage between $1 billion and $10 billion.
