After setting a post-2008 high with 144 private equity deals in transportation last year, PE investors worldwide have since slowed their activity in the industry. When looking at the combined B2B and B2C transportation sectors, completed deals this year are set to drop about 32% from 2013, according to the PitchBook Platform. One of the industry groups faring the best in 2014 is B2C automotive, garnering 6% more deal share than last year.

Since the start of 2005, more than 700 PE firms have invested in commercial and consumer transportation companies, with over 200 having completed deals in the last two years. 161 of the investors manage between $1 billion and $5 billion in assets.
