PE investors have been especially active in Washington state this year, setting a pace for nearly 70 investments in 2014, according to the PitchBook Platform. If the rate holds, activity would be a decade high by 31% more than the previous record (52 deals in 2006). The state's growing tech community has seen some dub the Seattle metro area as “Silicon Valley North,” while several other sectors, particularly B2B and B2C, have seen impressive activity that already surpasses last year’s. Overall, nearly 300 PE investors have targeted Washington companies since 2005, combining for more than 400 deals; 127 of those firms have assets of at least $1 billion and 33 have made deals within the past six months.
