A look back at the first half of 2015 shows almost 1,900 global VC investors participated in at least one financing, according to the PitchBook Platform, combining to back 2,875 companies. During the six-month timeframe, more than $45 billion was invested in total, with nearly 70% going toward either IT or B2C. Over $28 billion of 1H's VC raised went to U.S.-based businesses; Asia grabbed the second largest piece of the financing pie at almost $10 billion (a 22% share compared to 15% in the first six months of 2014). Of the 50 most active VC investors of 1H, 45 are headquartered in the U.S., with three primarily based in Europe and one apiece in China and Canada—each has made at least 18 investments this year.
