October 12, 2012
Sand Hill Road VC Trinity Ventures has closed on $325 million for its eleventh venture fund. Founded in 1986, the firm has obviously increased its fund size over the years, but managed to keep its funds relatively modest in order to maintain close ties with portfolio companies. And this fund size is serving the early-stage focused firm well: According to the PitchBook Platform, Trinity Ventures X has an IRR of 31.35% (as of December 31, 2011), while Trinity Ventures IX has an IRR of 8.20% (as of March 31, 2012). Trinity focuses on computer software, ecommerce and communications, and accordingly, its recent investments include online kid's clothing exchange thredUp and cloud-based marketing platform Act-On Software.
