TrueCar, an information and technology platform that enables users to communicate with TrueCar-certified dealers for a fair low price and a hassle-free car buying experience, has raised $70 million in an initial public offering, listing on the NASDAQ under the symbol TRUE. The company offered 7.8 million shares at $9 per share, well below its proposed $12 to $14 range. TrueCar has raised over $265 million in VC funding to date, most recently receiving $30 million of Series D funds in December 2013. Its investors include Capricorn Investment Group (14.88% pre-IPO stake), Upfront Ventures (14.15%), Anthem Venture Partners (8.65%) and Vulcan Capital (8.44%), among others. TrueCar ended its first day of trading at $10.06, up 11.8%.
