Uni-World Capital and Brightwood Capital Advisors, two New York-based PE investors, have jointly acquired specialty chemical producer VanDeMark Chemical from Buckingham Capital Partners and Smith Whiley & Company. The transaction was sourced through Sidereal Capital, which also invested in the equity and will appoint a director to the company. VanDeMark offers more than 30 chemical compounds used in the production of paints and coatings, pharmaceuticals, plastics and polymers, adhesives and sealants, agricultural products and other end markets. Buckingham first acquired the company in 2007 by carving out ISOCHEM, a U.S. subsidiary of France's GROUPE SNPE, and renaming it VanDeMark. Smith Whiley subsequently provided a growth equity investment in the company.
