VC Investment in Drug Delivery Space Dominated by Four States
April 12, 2013
Since the beginning of 2006, VC investors have financed 57 U.S.-headquartered Drug Delivery companies, according to the PitchBook Platform. Of the total capital invested in the sector during that time, four states have together accounted for about 85%: Massachusetts, California, New Jersey and Virginia. The two biggest deals in the Drug Delivery space were for New Jersey’s Valeritas and Virginia’s Intrexon. Overall, 2011 was by far the most active year for VC investment in the sector, alone accounting for nearly $670 million of the total $2.12 billion invested since 2006.
