With a little more than a full month of 2015's VC activity in the books, we decided to take a look at what has transpired so far. There have been roughly 500 completed venture deals globally this year, altogether valued at more than $8 billion. IT companies have accounted for the largest portion of the deal flow (39%), with healthcare (23%), B2C (19%) and B2B (12%) following. Of the total venture capital invested thus far, the global B2C industry has taken in the greatest share (38%), thanks in large part to China-based group deals site Meituan landing a massive $700 million financing. Several companies reached a billion-dollar valuation in the first month of 2015, including TransferWise, Planet Labs, BeiBei and Shazam.
