Veritas Capital has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Embedded Systems business from General Electric (NYSE: GE). The business is a supplier of open-architecture electronic systems for aerospace, defense and industrial solutions. Its portfolio of commercial-off-the-shelf products is based on high-performance, rugged computing technologies and custom designs manufactured to withstand harsh environments such as temperature, high vibration and natural element exposure. Currently operating within GE's Intelligent Platforms' subdivision, Embedded Systems has five global facilities and employs approximately 700 people. The transaction is expected to close in 4Q.
