Weebly has secured $35 million in a Series C financing round from existing partner Sequoia Capital and Tencent Holdings, resulting in an estimated valuation of about $455 million. The company will use the capital infusion to expand into new markets and increase investment in R&D.
Launched in 2007 with an investment from Y Combinator, Weebly provides a platform for users to create a custom website, online store or blog, at a range of low-cost pricing options. It last received funding in 2011 with a Series B round of over $41 million that valued the company at almost $231 million. The network of websites and blogs supported by the Weebly API receives more than 175 million unique visitors globally each month.
