PitchBook will be publishing its first ever VC Cleantech report on Monday. The comprehensive report investigates recent trends in the cleantech space, with a specific focus on deal-making, fundraising, exits and valuations. There will also be a special feature on water-related investments and the city that is leading the way on water technology—Milwaukee.
Using data from the PitchBook Platform, we found that venture capital investment in the cleantech space grew rapidly from 2004 to 2011, but then began to drop in 2012 before falling drastically through the first 11 months of this year. This data seemingly shows that the once-hot industry has fallen out of favor among many VC investors, but what caused this change? In the upcoming report, PitchBook examines the reasons for this shift and whether the cleantech space can recover.
