Whiptail Backed by SanDisk and Others in $31M Round

Whippany, NJ-based Whiptail, a flash storage developer, has raised $31 million in Series C financing from multiple investors, including SanDisk, Ignition Partners, RRE Ventures and Spring Mountain Capital. As a company, SanDisk is a developer of flash storage products, but has now launched its own VC initiative with the aim of putting $75 million into tech startups. Silicon Valley Bank provided debt financing for Whiptail's recent round. The investment "will fund growth in Whiptail’s engineering team and accelerate global expansion,” according to a press release. The company will also welcome a new CFO in 2013.
