Anonymous messaging app Yik Yak has raised $62 million in VC funding at a valuation of $400 million. Led by Sequoia Capital, the financing round brings Yik Yak's total funding to $75 million; in June, the company received $11.5 million in Series A funding at a valuation of $44 million. Previous investors include Azure Capital Partners, DCM and Renren, among others. The app allows users to secretly post messages that can be viewed by anyone within a 1.5 mile radius.
Similar apps Whisper and Secret have also raised hefty rounds this year. Whisper grabbed $36 million at a valuation of $229 million in May, while Secret received $25 million at a $130 million valuation in July.
