PitchBook has added shareholder ownership data for 57,585 European private companies across Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Norway, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Clients can now see a shareholder’s name and type, the number and type of shares they own, as well as total ownership percentage—information that comes directly from European registries.

This release is one among many that align with our effort to expand and improve PitchBook’s coverage of private companies around the world. Learn how users can leverage ownership data below.

Evaluate potential investments with comprehensive ownership data

Investors can now use PitchBook to better understand a company’s ownership structure and answer important questions such as: Is the company family owned? Are there institutional investors? Who are the majority shareholders? Who controls voting rights? How many shareholders are there?

Ownership information adds another layer to PitchBook’s company data—which includes valuations, funding history, financials and capital raised—and helps investors decide whether to pursue an opportunity or pass.

Identify shareholders who will benefit from liquidation events

Currently, wealth managers, private bankers and financial advisers use PitchBook to identify high-growth, high-value companies that will likely be acquired or go public soon. With ownership information, they can now find out exactly who will benefit from an exit—and who is a promising prospective client.
