A guide to the VC investors most active in Denmark
May 03, 2017
Denmark's VC ecosystem, unlike some other European capitals, is very broad, covering fintech, pharmatech, renewables, the maritime sector and B2B solutions. Just this week, Christopher Heilmann and Esben Petersen secured a roughly €470,000 seed investment for their fashion sales platform Traede from SEED Capital Denmark.
Since the start of 2015, 47 VC firms have participated in at least one of the 107 completed venture deals involving startups in Denmark, according to the PitchBook Platform. Invested capital through these deals was €162 million in 2015 and just shy of €100 million in 2016. This year, however, has gotten off to a slow start, with worthwhile investments appearing harder to find and under €20 million invested so far.
Danish-based IT startups have accounted for 41% of the capital invested during the time period, followed by B2B (33%) and healthcare (18%).
Here are the top five VC investors (excluding accelerators) in Danish companies since the beginning of 2015, along with their investment counts.
