Omnichannel beauty brand Julep Beauty has raised $30 million in Series C financing from new investors Azure Capital, Madrona Venture Group and Altimeter Capital, as well as existing backers Andreessen Horowitz and Maveron. The company previously raised $15.3 million in an Andreessen Horowitz-led Series B round in June 2013; its total funding is now around $56 million. Julep will use the capital infusion to continue its e-commerce development.
Julep launches over 300 toxin-free nail, color cosmetics and skincare products each year, creating new products based on crowd-sourced customer feedback gathered via social channels such as forums, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. This latest round adds it to the list of beauty product retailers that have attracted venture funding in the past couple of months, which includes Luxola and BirchBox.
