AkzoNobel CEO quits, replaced by specialty chemicals head
July 20, 2017
Ton Büchner, CEO of paints maker AkzoNobel, has stepped down due to health reasons. Büchner, who joined the company in 2012, will be replaced by Thierry Vanlancker, who was previously head of the company's specialty chemicals division. AkzoNobel has been planning to spin off the specialty chemicals unit after fighting off a takeover attempt from US rival PPG earlier this year.
