Altierre, a provider of ultra-low power, long-range wireless technology for the IoT, has secured $21 million in a funding led by D.E. Shaw & Co. and Stratim Capital. Previous backers of the company also participated in the round, including ATA Ventures, DuPont Capital Management, Labrador Ventures and Kinetic Ventures. Altierre's technology can be used by retailers for real-time out-of-stock notifications, intra-day promotional pricing and product placement through temperature, lighting and customer traffic monitoring. It is currently employed in retail stores in over 1,000 U.S. cities as well as in certain stores in France. The company last raised funds in a $6.8 million round in late 2013.
