Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) has purchased data aggregation platform Graphiq for an estimated $50 million, per the Los Angeles Times. The acquisition of the startup, which uses AI to make data-driven infographics, occurred in May, but reports of the deal didn’t surface until Thursday. Graphiq had raised a total of $18 million in equity funding since it was founded in 2009. Amazon plans to use the company’s tech to improve Alexa, its virtual personal assistant.
