American Securities eyes $1B chemicals sale

American Securities is in talks to sell Emerald Kalama Chemical in a deal that could value the company at about $1 billion, Bloomberg reported. Emerald makes ingredients and preservatives for foods, cosmetics and other products. Potential suitors for the company reportedly include Lanxess, a fellow specialty chemicals company, as well as private equity firms HIG Capital, Rhone Capital and TPG Capital. American Securities has backed Emerald since 2014.
