Apollo, co-investors complete $1.1B deal for University of Phoenix operator

Apollo Global Management, The Vistria Group and Najafi Companies have completed their $1.1 billion purchase of Apollo Education Group, nearly a year after the take-private deal was first announced. Apollo Education Group has been delisted from the NASDAQ, with shareholders receiving $10 per share in cash and Vistria Group COO and partner Tony Miller, formerly the deputy education secretary under former President Barack Obama, becoming chairman of the company’s board. Apollo Education Group operates for-profit universities including the University of Phoenix.
