Online fashion retailer Boohoo has agreed to acquire high-street fashion brands Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis for £25.2 million from Arcadia Group. The deal marks the breakup of UK retail giant Arcadia, which went into administration at the end of 2020, and comes one week after Boohoo rival Asos said it would pay £265 million for other Arcadia brands Topshop, Topman, HIIT and Miss Selfridge.
The new transaction includes each of the brands' digital assets, intellectual property rights, customer and business data, and inventory. However, as with the Asos deal, Boohoo's acquisition does not include any store locations, concessions, or franchises, putting a reported 2,450 retail jobs at risk. Boohoo also recently bought Debenhams, a collapsed UK department store chain, for £55 million.
