Buyout Fundraising Boost

River Associates Investments has closed its River VI fund with $222 million of committed capital, surpassing its $200 million initial target and the $110 million raised by its predecessor, River V. Proskauer Rose served as legal counsel for River VI, while LB Group served as placement agent for certain limited partner interests. RAI's latest fund will continue the firm's strategy of control buyouts of lower middle-market companies. By the time of the fund's final closing, RAI had already invested almost $50 million of the fund.
2Q 2012 is panning out to be a great quarter for private equity investors wrapping up buyout fundraising. According to the PitchBook Platform, 14 U.S. buyouts funds have closed on a total of $26 billion of committed capital so far this quarter, putting 2Q on track to surpass last quarter's 20 closed funds and $12 billion of raised capital. If this keeps up, 2Q 2012 could turn out to be the strongest quarter for fundraising in the last ten quarters.
