California Adds to Lobbyist Definition Law

A new law is in town in California to combat pay-to-play schemes. The state is now requiring those working as placement agents between investment managers and its two major pension funds, the California Public Employees' Retirement System and the California State Teachers' Retirement System, to register as lobbyists. As such, they will face more restrictions, including those on incentive fees, as well as more requirements for disclosure.
