The Carlyle Group has completed the $1.44 billion sale of Vought Aircraft Industries to Triumph Group (NYSE: TGI). The transaction included $525 million in cash and 7.5 million shares, which gives Carlyle ownership of 31% of Triumph's outstanding stock. Vought manufactures aerostructures and was acquired by Carlyle in an $843 million buyout in 2000. The company had previously filed for an IPO but withdrew its registration in July 2009 due to unfavorable market conditions.
