Carlyle, Stellex join forces for maritime merger

The Carlyle Group and Stellex Capital Management have acquired Vigor Industrial and MHI Holdings and named Jim Marcotuli as CEO of the newly combined company. Operating in Oregon, Washington and Alaska, Vigor specializes in shipbuilding, ship repair and projects supporting energy generation and US infrastructure and national defense. MHI, meanwhile, comprises three providers that serve commercial ship operators as well as the US Navy, Military Sealift Command and Maritime Administration.
