CommScope Growing into Full-Scale Infrastructure Platform
July 12, 2013
CommScope, a communications infrastructure company owned by The Carlyle Group, has acquired Redwood Systems. Redwood makes LED lighting systems and integrated-sensor networks for data centers and buildings. The acquisition will help meet the growing demand from business enterprises for full-scale infrastructure solutions. Redwood took in several rounds of VC funding before the acquisition, as well as a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Small Business Innovation Research program. Carlyle acquired CommScope in January 2011.
