Daimler makes plans for truck unit spinoff

German automaker Daimler is planning to spin off its truck and bus unit with a view to taking the company public. Daimler Truck could list on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by the end of the year. The Daimler Group, which owns Mercedes-Benz, eventually plans to decouple its commercial vehicles business from its luxury cars business. There are also plans to rename the remaining company Mercedes-Benz.
