Defy Media joins list of companies to shut down this year

Defy Media has closed its doors and is laying off all its employees, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The digital media company, which has offices in Los Angeles and New York, will reportedly try to sell off its content brands, which include Clevver, Smosh and AweMe. Defy had raised $100 million in total equity funding, including a $70 million round led by Wellington Management in 2016.
