For the second time, Toshiba chooses Bain Capital

After months of back-and-forth bidding by several investor groups, a consortium led by Bain Capital and including South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix has reportedly agreed to purchase the memory chip business of Toshiba for 2 trillion yen (about $18 billion). Toshiba previously seemed set to sell the business to the Bain Capital-led group in June, only for Western Digital and KKR to re-enter the bidding amid an ongoing legal dispute.
Western Digital reportedly plans to again challenge Bain Capital's latest deal, which is set to include contributions from tech heavyweights Apple and Dell.
