Broadcasting, Radio and Television | Isleworth, UK | Corporate Acquisition
The UK government will make its initial decision on 21st Century Fox's proposed acquisition of Sky by 29 June. The Competition and Markets Authority as well as Ofcom—the UK's media regulator—have submitted reports to culture secretary Karen Bradley assessing the deal on competition grounds, as well as discerning whether the US company is 'fit and proper' to hold a UK broadcasting licence. Representations can be made after Bradley makes her initial decision. Fox agreed to acquire the stake in Sky it does not already own in December, valuing the business at £18.5 billion.
