Fox's Sky takeover referred to competition watchdog

21st Century Fox's proposed £11.7 billion takeover of Sky will be referred to the Competition and Markets Authority by the government. The decision has been made due to concerns over the deal's potential impact on media plurality as well as commitment to broadcasting standards. Fox agreed to acquire the remaining stake in Sky it did not own in December.
