JAC Capital to Buy NXP's RF Power Business for $1.8B

JAC Capital has agreed to acquire the RF Power business of NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) for $1.8 billion. The unit develops RF power amplifiers primarily for the cellular base station market, with potential applications in industrial lighting, next-generation cooking and automotive electronic ignition systems; the new standalone company has about 2,000 employees. The deal is expected to close in 2H, with the proceeds going to partly fund NXP's previously announced $16.7 billion acquisition of Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL).
