Popular job search site Indeed is selling to Japanese HR company Recruit. Indeed will operate as an independent unit of Recruit and continue to be led by Indeed’s current senior management team. The company launched in 2004 and hasn't raised outside funding since its 2005 Series A financing—a $5 million round from Union Square Ventures, The New York Times and Allen & Company. No word yet on an exact acquisition price tag, but the amount has been reported to be around $1 billion. NYT's filing yesterday states that the company will sell all of its remaining interest in Indeed.com and expects an after-tax gain of $100 million in the fourth quarter of 2012.
