Kilmer Picks Up Stake in Compact Power Equipment Centers
November 27, 2012
Toronto-based PE firm Kilmer Capital Partners has invested in Compact Power Equipment Centers, a South Carolina-based outdoor equipment rental company. Fellow Canadian investor TerraNova Partners joined Kilmer in the majority investment. Compact Power rents specialized small construction equipment, including mini-skid steers, backhoes, trenchers and chippers, to landscape, irrigation, construction and other specialty contractors, as well as do-it-yourself retail customers. The investors raised $50 million of asset-based financing to support rapid expansion plans; the company, in partnership with Home Depot, is aiming to become one of the largest equipment rental companies in North America.
