Liberty Interactive (NASDAQ: QVCA) has agreed to acquire General Communication (NASDAQ: GNCMA) for $32.50 per share in cash and stock, representing an equity value of $1.12 billion. Liberty Interactive owns a cable TV portfolio that includes QVC and HSN; the deal will eliminate the company's current "tracking stock structure." Liberty previously owned GCI decades ago before selling the company in 1986. GCI stock surged over 62% on Tuesday to close at $33.95.
