Oaktree closed its first day trading on the NYSE under the symbol OAK yesterday at $42.39. The firm had priced its IPO at the low end of its expected $43 to $46 price range. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley served as lead underwriters. Oaktree is the fourth PE giant to go public, following The Blackstone Group, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Apollo Global Management. The Carlyle Group filed to go public on September 6, 2011 and is expected to start trading next week.
