Platinum makes offer for UK pub group Marston's

US firm Platinum Equity has made an unsolicited takeover proposal for UK-listed pub operator Marston's. The company said in a statement it would review the nonbinding offer and make an announcement in due time. Its shares closed up 10% on Friday after news of the bid broke, giving Marston's a market cap of around £521.8 million.
