Repsol nears $1B acquisition of Exxon Mobil assets

Repsol, a Spanish oil conglomerate, is approaching a $1 billion acquisition deal for a portion of Exxon Mobil's deepwater assets in the Gulf of Mexico, per Reuters. The deal would reflect Exxon's recent spinoff strategy. The oil giant recently confirmed it was in talks to sell its Norwegian upstream assets to Var Energi for $4 billion.
