Russian regulator green lights Rostelecom's Tele2 deal

Russia's anti-monopoly watchdog has approved the takeover of Tele2 Russia by state-controlled Rostelecom, per Reuters. The telecoms provider is said to be buying a 55% stake owned by state bank VTB. Swedish mobile carrier Tele2 has shed several units including its Dutch and Austrian operations. In June, BC Partners-backed United signed a deal to buy Tele2 Croatia for €220 million.
