According to the PitchBook Platform, 372 venture capital firms have invested a whopping $4.8 billion in companies in the Security vertical since 2007. Total capital invested surged over $1 billion for 2007, and this year's numbers are putting the vertical on track to reach similar heights, following a few less phenomenal years in between. Security companies have been busy locking down VC in 2012, securing a solid $960 million in funding to date. And, that isn't the only notable number in the space. Eight seed financings have been raised so far in 2012, the most ever in one year for that deal type. With freshly seeded startups in tow and the vertical closing in on a billion dollars in capital, there's security in numbers this year.
