Snowflake’s big round caps a flurry of fundings for companies in the data space, whether they’re storage startups or more focused on data management or analytics. Since the beginning of this year, there have been 32 deals completed in the data industry with about $613 million of capital invested, per the PitchBook Platform. Among the companies to receive funding just in the past few weeks are data-storage startup Cohesity, which announced a $90 million-plus round on Tuesday, and Looker, a business intelligence software provider that secured $81.5 million last week.
And, of course, there’s Cloudera, the data management company that filed for a $200 million IPO last week. Cloudera’s public offering, especially when considered along with the list of data companies that have pulled in capital over the last several weeks, could bode well for the data storage and management industry.
